About the Bad Neighbor

This is NOT a blog about being a good/bad neighbor.

It IS a blog about what I see.  Sometimes it’s about what I feel or think.  Occasionally what I hear.

My pet project is life – specifically how to enjoy it, even when the going gets rough.

Me?  That’s easy.  I’m a 39 year old (Pisces sun/Pisces moon/Leo Ascendant if you mus know) male.  I’m married to my best friend (since 2005 – I call her “Mo”) and we have a wee-teen (13 yo) girl (“Tai” pronounced Tay), who is actually my wife’s  daughter – although I have been in her life since she was 2.  I understand step-parenting because it’s been a priority – but I am always learning.  She and I have a very enriching and rewarding relationship, and as a family I have rarely seen consistently higher quality interactions.  I am very proud of our family – can you tell?

Professionally, I have been in sales for almost my entire adult life.  I have been an individual contributor, sales manager, branch manager and regional manager for various IT Consulting companies specializing in staff augmentation.  I also ran an ethical mortgage company from 2002 until 2007 in the capacity of branch manager, overseeing 2 branches.  However, after the mortgage meltdown (we were exclusively a broker and did not even offer FHA), I considered returning to the IT Consulting industry (having many contacts that were willing to provide good opportunities, even in the down economy) but something else grabbed my attention.  I decided to go back to school and finish my degree, even though that meant a serious adjustment to our standard of living.  No matter what I had decided to do, the short to mid-term financial prospect for me was bleak (even in the IT staff augmentation field, most managers do not have reasonable budgets to work with at the moment) being that the majority of my income would be commission based.
